Illustrate a pathology on a macro scale to make it come to life. At the same time, educate a lay audience on the progression and consequences of this pathology.
Typically, retina images appear as flat orange circles. Ophthalmologists are able to see the image as a 3D structure. However, for the lay public, these images are often meaningless. My goal with this illustration was to bring the viewer inside the eye and experience the clarity of what is truly happening. I researched the topic by looking at anatomy atlases, research papers and pathophysiology books.
